Episode 80 - It’s a Milestone

Susie and Katie are at it again and for once, we didn't have Bravo in our obsessions, but guess what we talked about anyway?! We also get caught up on Katie's trip to Indiana, Susie's musical escapades and let you know what our friends are up to. 

 

Our Famous Focus this week is Fort Worth Roots' annual event coming up on September 23rd. Join the fun starting at 11am at Pouring Glory in Fort Worth. There will be a vendor market, goodie bags, and a portion of the food sales will to Cook Children's Medical Center. LIve music throughout the day will be provided by some of our favorite local musicians, including Itchy Ritchie and the Burning Sensations

It’s Hotter’nhail in Texas

Welcome back to the Casita, friends! Katie and I give you an hour and a half of basic chaos where we discuss aliens, evolution, paint nights, and Real Housewives. 

 

Our Famous Focus this week is on public are in Fort Worth, so get out their and catch some of the beautiful art the Unexpected City has to give. You can find murals, sculptures, art bombs and more all over this town. Take a pic of your faves and let us know in the comments your go to art piece to visit. 

 

Also, next week - Wednesday August 9th Denver Williams has a show at the Cicada with lots of his pals playing support. But that's not the important part.. the important part is that he will be cooking up grilled cheese sammies ALL night, well, when he's not on stage! 

 

Keep an eye out for upcoming shows in September from the new Mean Motor Scooter line up! To say Katie and I are excited is putting it mildly. 

 

One last thing...we play a new game this week based on "getting to know you questions" and it's probably my favorite thing I've done with Katie so far. This will be our new "red flags" segment, but don't worry, we will throw that in every once in a while, too.

Noodles and Cronuts

We have another episode brought to you from the Casita Mas Fina, in which I tell you how my house got it's name, we go down many different tangent paths, and Susie learns that a cronut is NOT a cruller. 

 

This is a fun one and a little all over the place, but we think you will enjoy the chaos.

Go see Emily at Delta Massage and Bodywork for healing of both body and spirit. 

King Tut may just have the best eggplant dishes in all of Fort Worth. 

Dave Chappelle is a pretty controversial, but I still love him. 

We should all go to the Cicada this Saturday to see our friends make music.

She’s so Lucky

The one where Susie and Katie give you a houseplant status update, talk about what we've been up to, play a rousing game of Red Flags vs. Deal Breakers (it's Back!), and let you know what our friends in Mean Motor Scooter are up to. Along the way, we talk about Susie's absolute obsession with her backyard, Katie's Noodle date, Parker's a-hole boyfriend, and how therapy helps us work through all the things. 

Our spotlight this week is on Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. Free adoption week is coming up July 10th through the 16th, so keep an eye out for events if you're looking for a new Buddy to add to your household. You can follow them on social media or via the fortworth.gov website.

Bringing the Heat!

It's officially Summer (temps) in Texas so we invite you to sit back, enjoy an ice cold lemonade, and listen in as Susie and Katie talk about all the things. Susie got a new plant, Katie has an obsession with her darling friend's legos, and we are both hyped that Trader Joe's has brought back their Cold Brew Coffee bags. 

Our FWF Spotlight this week focuses on Friday on the Green, brought to you by the Near Southside, Inc. This outdoor event is taking a couple of months off for Summer, but you can join in on the fun again in September. 

We introduce a new game that had both us crying the first time we played it with our respective partners. It's called We're Not Really Strangers. We stuck to the Level 1 questions this time, but trust me Levels 2 and 3 will get you right in the feels.

Katie and siblings went to Colorado for her brother's Dirty Thirty, Susie went to Big Bend and had all her dreams come true in Marfa with her pals, and we have a FWF Spotlight on the number 2 zoo in the nation. It's right her in Fort Worth!

Famous Friends - Monna! 

Join us as our friend, and local Fort Worth Famous comedienne, Monna, comes to the Dream House to discuss her comedy, upcoming releases, and all the events that she promotes in the Dee Eff Dub. For me, Monna is iconic and it was such a pleasure to get to spend an hour speaking with her about all that she does to create safe spaces, both for comedians and her community. 

Of course, we keep to our usual schedule of obsessions, what we've been up to, and a brief music minute. We also discuss Kissing Cousins and Prenups! It gets a bit wild, but that's just how we like it.
